My first full school year has a REP facilitator has been filled with up and…
Positivity for Peers is a safe space for youth, by youth. Led by students who have completed REP’s curriculum and want to continue the important work of preventing dating violence in their communities.
We plan to discuss the real issues facing youth today, especially related to relationships: healthy relationships, self-esteem, self-worth, consent, communication, relationship abuse or dating violence, toxic friendships, etc. This group will have an active social media presence to engage with youth in positive and healthy ways to counteract negativity we do see online. We want you to know you ARE NOT ALONE. If you have a topic you want to hear more about, let us know!
Before we dive deep into the issues, we need to lay down some ground rules. This space will be safe for all to use and communicate with each other.
For those that have been in a REP classroom, you know these #groundrules well. But let’s review the important ones, especially for this online, safe space.
Don’t yuk my yum: RESPECT. Can we disagree on some things? ABSOLUTELY! But if you disagree, we must find ways to do it respectfully. We will not tolerate disrespect, bullying, bashing, or hate of any kind.
If you disagree, trying starting with “I believe” or “I think”. And think about your intention. Do you have a point perhaps we left out or haven’t considered? Do you feel like your experience has been left out? We want to hear about that!
Lastly, know that while this is a safe space, it is monitored to ensure the safety and well being of all.
