Optional: Survivor Speaking

Ambassadors who identify as survivors of domestic violence are able to speak about their personal experiences with domestic violence. Just like with speaking engagements, there are two ways to do a survivor speaking engagement on behalf of Safe Harbor. The first is when Ana Castellanos (the Bilingual Outreach Coordinator) receives a request for a survivor speaker and she asks Survivor Ambassadors if someone can represent SH at that event. The second way is for you to coordinate an event in which you will speak; you can plan an event and coordinate with Ana to make sure you have the necessary support.

So why share your story?

Your voice is powerful, and your story is meaningful because you have the unique ability to…

  • Paint a picture about the complex and multifaceted experience of living with someone who abuses
  • Reflect on key opportunities for intervention and support found along your journey
  • Share your path to resilience, highlighting the strengths you’ve gained and obstacles you’ve overcome
