A Poem

I am a girl.

I am not fragile and pink and flirty.

I am strong and aware and valiant.

I don’t want your opinion on how I should dress or how my hair needs to be or if I should wear makeup or not.

I want to wear what I want and say what I want without hearing:

“Girls don’t, girls shouldn’t, girls can’t”.

I am a girl,

And I can do whatever I want.

I am a boy.

I am not big or obnoxious or heartless.

I am sensitive and caring and respectful.

I don’t want your opinion on how I should dress or how my hair needs to be or whether I should wear makeup or not.

I want to wear what I want and say what I want without hearing:

“Boys don’t, boys shouldn’t, boys can’t”.

I am a boy,

And I can do whatever I want.

I am a human.

I am not going to be submitted to stereotypes.

I have the right to be happy with myself without anyone else having a say so.

I am me,

And no one should have any problem with that.
